Danger Mouse & Sparklehorse Team Up For New Album

Stream | Purchase (sans music)
What do you get when you mix songs written and recorded by Danger Mouse & Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse, topped with guest spots from The Flaming Lips, Frank Black, Jason Lytle and Iggy Pop and accompanied by breathtaking visuals by David Lynch? You get a record that might not ever be released due to a legal battle with EMI.
The incredibly ambitious album Dark Night of The Soul may or may not see the light of day, but that isn’t stopping Danger Mouse from making a powerful statement that one can’t help but support.
From the DNOTS WebStore: “This limited edition art book contains 100+ pages of original photographs by celebrated film director David Lynch. Only 5000 copies have been printed and each one is hand numbered. The book will also come with a 24″ X 36″ poster as well as a custom designed CD-R (poster comes folded).
Please note: Due to an ongoing dispute with EMI, Danger Mouse is unable to include music on the CD without fear of legal entanglement. Therefore, he has included a blank CD-R as an artifact to use however you see fit.”
A blank CD-R, artwork by an amazing artist & brilliant ‘fuck you’ to those who are holding this record back. This is something you should purchase.
For those of you in Los Angeles, CA, visit the Michael Kohn Gallery between May 30th and July 11th for a visual interpretation of songs from the album Dark Night of the Soul featuring new photographs by David Lynch. Also, head over to NPR.com for an exclusive stream of the album. A review here on A&SB will soon follow (but we can already tell yout hat it lives up to it’s hype).
