i think eventually you will see the convergence of the two - websites and apps. the lines are now getting blurred as to what is what. its sort of like GPS and a cell phones... you are starting to see the two merge now as one device.

my prediction, and i cant wait to look at this comment in 10 years and laugh at how ridiculous it sounds because shit is going to be so advanced then, is that the two will eventually have to become one. you will see more implementation of web apps on regular websites so that they can display on smartphones without having to download a piece of software. google voice was denied from apple's market and now create a web app version that can be viewed the same way as a downloaded app. totally crazy. people have more control over their sites and don't have to deal with a 3rd party company in order to "launch them"

you can see that happening now already with the internet vs software. i got rid of my banking software and and use mint.com instead. less space is being taken up on my hard drive, things are more convenient and i can use it from my phone.

how soon will it be when phone downloads will go away and you just have to navigate to a destination in order to use it rather than launching an internal application?

you'd have to be a desperate Apple fanatic to want the first generation with no built-in camera or microphone, when you know it will come out cheaper next year with those features and more.

the whole "when something exceeds your ability to understand how it works...it sort of becomes magical" is pretty damn funny. Apple has become such an evil weirdo cult company.

my money's on a first gen iPad flop in the market...but the iBook store will probably turn a profit someday.
